Marbles

Apparently, and I shit you not, the IDF had no choice but to gun down those peace protesters because, and I really do shit you not, they were armed with marbles...

A brutal ambush at sea

"Ron Ben Yishai recounts bloody clash aboard Gaza-bound vessel: The lacking crowd-dispersal means, the brutal violence of ‘peace activists,’ and the attempt to bring down an IDF helicopter"

"Navy commandoes slid down to the vessel one by one, yet then the unexpected occurred: The passengers that awaited them on the deck pulled out bats, clubs, and slingshots with glass marbles, assaulting each soldier as he disembarked. The fighters were nabbed one by one and were beaten up badly, yet they attempted to fight back."

It's worth reading the full account of the brutal, children's sports equipment based, ambush those vicious peace protesters had set for the brave IDF fighters. The tone of this nonsense is genuinely reminiscent of the justifications the Nazis used when explaining their atrocities away.

The purpose of crap like this is not to win over the hearts and minds of opponents or the undecided . It's put out so that the Faithful have a rationalisation for murder they can dissonantly cling onto. Deep down, they don't really give a shit if it's true or not

And yes, I know I've broken Godwin's Law, but the parallels are really there and genuinely creepy and unsettling

And these are the same demented looneytune amoral fuckers who are boasting about deploying nuclear armed submarines in the territorial waters of a country they are gagging to go to war with

edit: and, in a similar vein, here's Norman...

Apologies for the long URL and poor translation, but the gist is that several Turkish Navy frigates are headed in Israel's direction.

somebody(country) ought to give those arrogant Israeli bastards a fuckin slap.
Those fuckers think they are above and beyond the law.

The Israeli government has gone to far in the past, and it has continued it this time - but there is something different today: The world is watching rather critically, including governments who are allies have to be a lot more critical. The tide is changing. There is chance for change.

Norman Paech (former member of parliament and former professor for international law) who was on the boat, he will make a public meeting on friday and I will know more. I have seen his assistant today, she was a bit jittery. Norman came back from Israel by airplane today, only wearing his shirt and his trousers - they gave him a blanket on the airplane and he was giving TV interviews dressed like this. Hasbro has been active, false reports of the death of Inge Höger, member of the german parliament.

While to price was high to pay, I think this has potential for change. We need to push an expose the inhuman practices.

The fuckers didn't even wait until the ships had entered their (Gazan) territorial waters before launching their assault

Why would they do that?

Corrections:

NO, repeat, NO country is going to do anything meaningful, including Turkey. Turkey is run by the military with the garnish of some democratically elected(TM) people who have been given a veneer of being what is described as "Islamic"

Israyhell doesn't think it above the law, it IS above the law.

The tide is NOT changing. Israyhell is here to stay as are its continuous crimes. The only difference being its criminal chutzpah changes guise.

The ‘new dawn’ has LONG past it’s sell by date.

Not only is the comparison apt in this instance, Steff -it is in fact the only truly honest comparison one could make given the history of sustained frequent Zionist collaboration with the Nazis

Lenni Brenner, an Israeli historian wrote 2 very good books about the origins of political Zionism and it's very obvious close connections to Nazism
the first of these is 'Zionism in the Age of the Dictators - A Reappraisal -(1983)' - - the full copy is free online at the link - http://www.marxists.de/middleast/brenner/

the 2nd book is called '51 Documents- Zionist Collaboration With the Nazis' and it does what it says on the tin -
51 Documents:
Zionist Collaboration with the Nazis

In 1983, Croom Helm Ltd. published my 1st book, Zionism in the Age of the Dictators. American writers don't expect favorable reviews from the London Times, but editorialist Edward Mortimer declared that "Brenner is able to cite numerous cases where Zionists collaborated with anti-Semitic regimes, including Hitler's."

Still less could a Trotskyist dream of a review from Izvestia, the Soviet government gazette, but they hailed it. "During the world war, Brenner points out, Zionism showed its real meaning: for the sake of its ambitions, it sacrificed the blood of millions of Jews. . . .

The Plot to Stigmatize "51 Documents" on Amazon.com
excerpt;

But the documents demonstrate that collaboration began when Hitler came to power, years before the Holocaust. In 1933, the Zionistischen Vereinigung für Deutschland, the German Zionist Federation, sent a secret message to the Nazis:

"May we therefore be permitted to present our views, which, in our opinion, make possible a solution in keeping with the principles of the new German State of National Awakening.... It is our opinion that an answer to the Jewish question truly satisfying to the national state can be brought about only with the collaboration of the Jewish movement that aims at a social, cultural, and moral renewal of Jewry.... Zionism believes that a rebirth of national life, such as is occurring in German life through adhesion to Christian and national values, must also take place in the Jewish national group.... On the foundation of the new state, which has established the principle of race, we wish so to fit our community into the total structure so that for us too, in the sphere assigned to us, fruitful activity for the Fatherland is possible.... Our acknowledgment of Jewish nationality provides for a clear and sincere relationship to the German people and its national and racial realities.... [W]e do not wish to falsify these fundamentals, because we, too, are against mixed marriage and are for maintaining the purity of the Jewish group."

The ZVfD wasn't thinking about any future slaughter of Jews. To the contrary, they proclaimed that
"[A] self-conscious Jewry here described, in whose name we speak, can find a place in the structure of the German state, because it is inwardly unembarrassed, free from the resentment which assimilated Jews must feel at the determination that they belong to Jewry, to the Jewish race and past. We believe in the possibility of an honest relationship of loyalty between a group-conscious Jewry and the German state."

They went further.
"For its practical aims, Zionism hopes to be able to win the collaboration even of a government fundamentally hostile to Jews, because in dealing with the Jewish question no sentimentalities are involved but a real problem whose solution interests all peoples, and at the present moment especially the German people.

The realization of Zionism could only be hurt by resentment of Jews abroad against the German development. Boycott propaganda such as is currently being carried on against Germany in many ways is in essence un-Zionist, because Zionism wants not to do battle but to convince and to build.... Our observations, presented herewith, rest on the conviction that, in solving the Jewish problem according to its own lights, the German Government will have full understanding for a candid and clear Jewish posture that harmonizes with the interests of the state."

[Critics of Lennii Brenner's book] charge that the synopis misrepresents "pragmatism for collaboration (particularly before the Nazi's policy of extermination was known about) as if Zionists and Nazis shared the same ideals is insulting and disingenuous."

But [the Zionists] called for "a solution in keeping with the principles of the new German State of National Awakening." After all, "Zionism believes that a rebirth of national life, such as is occurring in German life through adhesion to Christian and national values, must also take place in the Jewish national group.... [W]e do not wish to falsify these fundamentals, because we, too, are against mixed marriage and are for maintaining the purity of the Jewish group." . . .

Stef, there are reports coming out that a man with a shotgun is randomly killing people in the Cumbria region:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/10214661.stm

http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/Number-Of-People-Confirmed-Dead-After-Shooting-In-Cumbria/Article/201006115642129?lpos=UK_News_Carousel_Region_0&lid=ARTICLE_15642129_Number_Of_People_Confirmed_Dead_After_Shooting_In_Cumbria

I wonder whether he would have been stopped by now if bystanders had their own weapons...

What do you make of it?

Stef said...

I think the State guards its monopoly on violence very jealously

and views any incident like this as ane excellent opportunity to extend the scope of that monopoly

"I wonder whether he would have been stopped by now if bystanders had their own weapons..."

you could ask the same question about the poor sods in that aid convoy

but if I were a betting man I'd punt a fiver that one of those wonderful anti-depressent drugs our doctors spend so much of their time dishing out was involved...

the odds on membership of some fruity little club are a longer but would still be worth a punt anyway

It was apparently a family row - so says the Beeb.

As that's what the beeb says, then I think Stef's punt is probably quite close to the truth:

Killer(2b): "Mary, I've got to stop taking these pills, there killing me, I'm having nightmare thoughts while I'm awake! And the other day with the boys I rolled up the wrong trouser leg. Robertson just wouldn't let it lie"

Mary: "Don't! Keep taking them! The doctor said Pfizer had spent millions on researching it benefial effects. It is completely safe. The government pharmaceutical advisory body endoresd it last week"

I signed up to volunteer as an advocate for less able individuals, there's a fair chance I will encounter someone on one of these drugs. Do I risk getting kicked off the programme, standing with ethics, or do I say nothing and do what I'm told... decisions, decisions.

“More than anything else, this crazy operation is evidence for the place that Israel has reached. There is no point in elaborating. Whoever has eyes in his head sees and feels it. No doubt, within hours some swift minds would find a way to turn the (natural, justified) feelings of guilt of many Israelis into a vociferous accusation against the entire world. The shame, however, would be more difficult to come to terms with.”

I think there is change in the air. The right and conservative press in Israel has much much justification to do.

Some interesting things coming out about Mr Bird and the circumstances surrounding his rampage. Now admittedly these aren't all 100% concrete but it does raise some interesting speculations...

http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/national/8201267.Gunman__embroiled_in_tax_inquiry_

Owed the Inland Revenue according to this article

-Relatively large stash of money (£60k), related to the above point

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/10216923.stm

Said that he wouldn't be seen again according to a friend of his quoted here.

-Also in the above article: shotgun licence held since 1995, .22 rifle licence since 2007; dismissed from employment at Sellafield nuclear plant for theft; showed changed behaviour shortly before the shooting; killed his twin brother first, apparently due to an argument over a will; second victim was Bird's solicitor (related to the will of his sick mother apparently); third person killed was a fellow taxi driver, supposedly over a prior argument about passenger pickups; others were apparently shot at random.

Hmm, can't find anything about SSRIs...

As for the commando raid, there'll always be apologists such as the nice man I've quoted below...

"I'll bet money that he had little idea what was on the ships except what he was told. That said, Hamas would have to be amazingly stupid to allow weapons on board as it would undermine the publicity they are currently getting. This convoy was specifically designed to provoke the Israelis and succeeded: a massive coup for Hamas and its attempts to be recognised."

Stef said...

One thing you can be pretty sure was on board each of those ships was a couple of Shin Bet operatives

I'm guessing theyt would have had a very good idea of what was on going on

The more I think about this incident - the decision to strike outside of territorial waters, the clumsy nature of the assault itself, even the lameness of the Israeli justifications for the killings, the more I'm open to the possiblity that someone, for some godawful reason, has deliberately staged an international incident

The least convoluted explanation is that the Israeli state deliberately killed activists outside of its borders to demonstrate to potential activists that it can

and, sad to say, it currently can

lwtc247 said...

A number of people take what you suggested, to be exactly the case. I am one of them. After the problems of the last Viva Palestina convoy Dec'09/Jan'10 it was clear a large number of ships was was the way to to (single ships like the Dignity were not newsworthy - reuired little hasbarah)

So the bullets went flying and the activists started dying so to try and stub out this idea.

Parabellum said...

"The more I think about this incident, the more I'm open to the possiblity that someone has deliberately staged an international incident"

That, or that the Israelis simply care less and less about other people. Face it, they simply don't give a fuck about other people, as long as the bad PR isn't bad enough to hurt them in anyway, as long as they keep their cozy little imperialist country running (and as long as none of their "own" is killed or kidnapped).

"Stop the ships? Ships stopped, mission accomplished, all men are back. Yeah, we had to kill some idiots. So what? Their problem, not ours."
