We're all potential terrorists now - redux

A new twist on an old favourite...

Just in case anyone missed this amusing little piece in last weekend's Scotland on Sunday...

Al-Qaeda's white army of terror

Two and a half years on from the 7/7 attack on London, MI5 has identified a worrying new trend in Al-Qaeda recruits

HUNDREDS of British non-Muslims have been recruited by al-Qaeda to wage war against the West, senior security sources warned last night.

As many as 1,500 white Britons are believed to have converted to Islam for the purpose of funding, planning and carrying out surprise terror attacks inside the UK, according to one MI5 source.

Lord Carlile, the Government's independent reviewer of anti-terrorism legislation, said many of the converts had been targeted by radical Muslims while serving prison terms.

Security experts say the growing secret army of white terrorists poses a particularly serious threat as they are far less likely to be detected than members of the Asian community.

Since the 7/7 and 21/7 London bombings, police and intelligence services have had considerable success in identifying, disrupting and stopping extremist plots. As a result, groups such as al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Harkat-ul-Mujahideen have been forced to change tack. Converting white non-Muslims has been one response.

The trend is well established in the United States. American-born Adam Gadahn is one of the FBI's top 10 most-wanted terrorists after converting to Islam and rising through al-Qaeda's ranks to become a prominent spokesman.

One British security source last night told Scotland on Sunday: "There could be anything up to 1,500 converts to the fundamentalist cause across Britain. They pose a real potential danger to our domestic security because, obviously, these people blend in and do not raise any flags.

"The exact figure of those who have converted to Islam and turned to terror is not precisely known. Not everyone who converts becomes radicalised and it may be that just two-fifths go down that path, but it remains a significant and dangerous problem."

Carlile said he was not aware of specific numbers, but confirmed to Scotland on Sunday that Whitehall was aware of the new threat and was actively tackling it. He said: "These people are an issue and are potentially very dangerous. There have been cases of non-Muslims converting before, and of these, Richard Reid, the so-called Shoebomber, is the most obvious example.

"They are more difficult to detect and the security services are right to place some focus on this issue."...

Well,
We didn't see that one coming

And here, for as long as Youtube permits, is Fox News' sensitive and thoughtful treatment of this 'news' (hoho) story...

'...because they're not Muslims. They look just like regular British people'

This is very alarming news! Was it only 2 years ago portly crimefighter Charles Clarke said
"that the numbers of potential terrorists were "trivial"?
So while the security services have been a victim of their own success, the inmates held on terrorist offences will rise from 131 today to 1,600 by 2017
The 131 have generated 'up to 1500' pallid recruits. with that sort of conversion rate we are looking at 'up to 18320' of them by 2017 (just 16 years into the war on terror!!).
As J Evans believes:
"the number of people we are seeing involved in terrorist-related activity in the UK has increased to at least 2,000. And we suspect that there are as many again that we don't yet know of"
Furthermore, this occult army is:
"As I speak, terrorists are methodically and intentionally targeting young people and children in this country"
We can all share his sense of frustration with the fucking russians and chinamen:
(from the article above)
Mr Evans said the service was still having to divert resources to counter " unreconstructed attempts" by countries such as Russia and China at Cold War-style espionage.
How on earth are they going to cope when terrorists look like normal people?
And if we are all potential terrorists, why is this allowed to encourage them?

What a surprise play for those that never knew or have forgotten what class politics is.

In November 2005, our esteemed mass murderer and war criminal, Tony Blair, estimated that the new laws would apply to 'fewer than twenty' dangerous, nasty and -- in all likelihood -- brown people. Fancy that the Prime Minister might not realise that the laws he wished to implement would apply to all 60 million subjugated subjects of the land. No doubt a mere oversight on his part.

What bedevilled quandary arises now that the terrorists could, maybe, possibly, might be white in addition to the de facto regulation brown terrorists?

Luckily dear old Johnny-boy cut his teeth in Northern Ireland so he'll be well up to speed with 'preventing' terrorism.

And, if we don't trust him and the rest of the lying, murdering bastards with a long list of previous, we could always set-up a parallel government which outlaws genocide, mass-murder, war, fractional reserve banking, extra judicial executions of innocent people, show trials, etc, etc.

"we could always set-up a parallel government"

So, how do we do this? Can you list some precedents?

(Was the Vichy Gov the legitimate gov or was it Gaulle's gov?). Any other examples?

One : the Strategic report jobby has what I think is a wonderful vote of confidence in our major ally ..."The US is likely to sustain its international leadership until at least 2020, after which a
more multipolar world will challenge its hegemonic status, with China, Russia, India,
Brazil and Indonesia and a host of alternative, possibly rival polities weakening its grip on
certain regions and the international system. US strategic power will also be
progressively diluted by its integration within an increasingly globalized economy and the
need to address large budgetary imbalances and deficits."

Two : Antagonist quotes "Tony Blair, estimated that the new laws would apply to 'fewer than twenty' dangerous, nasty and -- in all likelihood -- brown people. "

Is this a way of casting nasty ( and shirley unwarranted) slurs and contempt upon the Minister (well up to press that is) for Pensions and stink tanks ?

Five : All this will bring confusion to the minds of us unemployed couch potatoes watching old Black/White cowboy movies in the afternoons instead of the(now defunct ITV chidlren's programs) to the term "paleface".

Eight : Hint to SIS - check up on men over age of 16 volunteering with their GP's for circumcision operations - but be careful, they may simply be signing up for the Israeli defence Force - complicated this terrist bizniz.

two parallel governments are more than enough for any one country - maybe we should think about co-opting one of the ones we already have

Does this count?

2020?

more than a tad optimistic methinks

How? If only it were that simple.
Precedents? None that spring immediately to mind.

For the record, P2 is quite the opposite to the sort of thing I had in mind.

Which one?

Well, that's good to know ;)

A radical thought but maybe the one that sits in Westminster - backed by a US style constitution which limits the degree to which that government and corporations can fuck people over

The shadow parallel version can fuck right off

Yeah, that works a treat in the States. Where do I sign?

So, how do we do this?

At least part of the answer lies within what the MoD kindly advised:

“The Middle Class Proletariat

The middle classes could become a revolutionary class, taking the role envisaged for the proletariat by Marx. The globalization of labour markets and reducing levels of national welfare provision and employment could reduce peoples’ attachment to particular states. The growing gap between themselves and a small number of highly visible super-rich individuals might fuel disillusion with meritocracy, while the growing urban under-classes are likely to pose an increasing threat to social order and stability, as the burden of acquired debt and the failure of pension provision begins to bite. Faced by these twin challenges, the world’s middle-classes might unite, using access to knowledge, resources and skills to shape transnational processes in their own class interest.”

Stef said...

well, quite

I did say US style

There are some very solid principles included in the US Declaration of Independence and Constitution - what America's dumbed down, medicated population choose to do with those principles is an altogether different kettle of fish

Democracy has its limits and imho there are some basic principles so fundamental they shouldn't allowed to be the plaything of a corrupt political class. You might say 'Manifesto', I say 'Constitution'

Muslims > Old men at labour party conferences > now everyone!

Of course all New Labs 'anti-terror' legislation is drafted to actually be used against everyone, not terrorists. On the other hand certain people complain aboutthe human rights act as if it only applied to terrorists. They're your human rights too!

If only people could be convinced that they actually have a lot more in common with the average Muslim than they do Gordon Brown and the other sociapaths that populate our political parties and public life generally these days we might get somewhere.

yup

tricky to achieve though...

"The middle classes could become a revolutionary class" ... only if you try to stop them parking their 4 x 4's on the ziz zag lines outside the school they live near enough, which has sunk them in a mortgage black hole that makes them slaves for life.

I now have THREE bins all made of a plastic with a half life of about 1 squillion years.

Try as I might I generate perhaps one plastic bags worth of waste a week.

Am I allowed to join the ranks of the revolutionaries ?

As if the Muslim scare was not enough now you have to fear your own white neighbour...I knew that the war on terror was heading in that direction.
